The two most important things to remember when growing roses in containers is the size of the pot and plentiful watering and feeding. Soil in pots may tend to dry quickly, and roses in containers may need much more frequent watering than those planted directly in the ground. Line the bottom inch with gravel, then fill the pot 2/3 with a balanced potting soil mix. Your aim is to wet the soil to a depth of about 18 inches (45.7 cm).
