Once inside, its curious path juts this way and that for about 30 metres. On average it takes 53 minutes to complete this trail. Situated at an elevation of 300m (984 ft), the 10m high rocks have a narrow passageway through the middle, formed during the ice age.

Do dress for the weather. The whangie is a strange group of rocks. Local folklore says that the whangie was the work of the devil. Park at queen’s view car park and from there on up it is a well defined path easy enough to follow.
